SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Dan's Foods in Salt Lake City reports that its
supply of nonalcoholic sparkling cider sold out days before New Year's
Eve in a run on the LDS-favored bubbly that far exceeds previous years.
The store sold more than 100 cases in December.
Dans' Assistant Manager Jolene Packard told the Associated Press, in an
article available on its service, that the cider sales were very strong,
"It's just flying out of here. But I'd rather see them drink that than
the other."
The manager of an Albertson's in Ogden told the AP that his store also
saw strong sales, more than 100 cases in two months. Each case holds 12
bottles.
The brief article didn't explain why sales would be stronger this year
than in previous years.
