IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- University of California, Irvine starting center
Greg Ethington won't play next season, or the season after that.
Ethington has been called to serve in the Vancouver, British Columbia
Mission for the LDS Church.
"I'm excited to go," Ethington said. "It's something I've been looking
forward to for a long time. Finally, it's official." He is scheduled to
enter the MTC April 19th and will spend two months there learining
Cantonese. He said that he hadn't even heard of cantonese before his
mission call, "I have no clue how to speak it," Ethington said, "but I'm
looking forward to finding out."
Ethington isn't certain if he will return to Irvine following his
mission, "I haven't even thought about it, really," he said. "At the end
of the year I'm going to talk to Coach (Pat) Douglass and evaluate my
situation. I would have to say that returning to UCI is a good
possibility. I can't really say for sure what's going to happen in two
years, but it's a good possibility."
