'Standing for Something' Joins Another Bestseller List
(Publishers Weekly Hardcover Non-Fiction Bestsellers)

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- President Gordon B. Hinckley's book "Standing
for Something" remained at #4 in the Advice, How-to, and
Miscellaneous category of the New York Times Book Review's Best
Seller's list and also appeared on the Publishers Weekly bestseller
list. In addition, it has seen an upsurge in sales on Amazon.com that
placed it at #28 in its sales ranking last week.
However, the book continued to fall on USA Today's list, dropping
from number 42 to 49. But it joined the Publishers Weekly list last
week at #12 and has now advanced to #11 in its General/Nonfiction
category. Like the New York Times Book Review's list, Publishers
Weekly divides its list into Fiction and Nonfiction and separates
paperbacks into a separate list. However, unlike the New York Times,
Publishers Weekly doesn't include a separate 'Miscellaneous'
category, and it has included President Hinckley's book in the main
Nonfiction category.
The appearance of a book on bestseller lists can increase sales, and
may account for the better ranking this week on Amazon.com. And the
Publishers Weekly list is important because of the audience it
reaches. Publishers Weekly is the most important trade publication
for the book publishing industry. It is read by booksellers, who
often base buying decisions on the magazine. An appearance on the PW
best seller list may lead booksellers who haven't yet stocked the
title to order and get the book into their stores.
