LDS Community Sinks Sunday Swimming

Community values prevailed as the City Council went
against the advice of its leisure-services board and voted 4-1 to keep the
three year old city pool closed on Sundays. A letter signed by local
residents asked the council to "spare them from one day of the pool's
traffic, congestion and noise". A door-to-door poll of the community,
conducted by Utah State Univ. Extension Service, found 62% wanted the pool
closed one day during the week, and 90% of those people felt it should be
closed on Sunday.
The opposing voices in the community do not feel that having the pool open
for only nine hours on Saturday are sufficient to serve the community.
