KHAS TV5 Hastings NE 13Mar00 N6
HASTINGS, NEBRASKA -- Artists and promoters are working to finish the
Nebraska 'Archway' to commemorate the pioneer trails that passed
through Nebraska opening the west. One of the exhibits in the Archway
is the "Mormon" Exhibit, meant to portray the Mormon pioneers who
passed through Nebraska starting in 1847.
The Mormon exhibit includes a train of covered wagons, moving into a
mural, where they are depicted moving over a mountain on their way
west. The mural is being painted by muralist Paul Baker, who has
painted several murals in the Archway, including one of Yellowstone
park. Each of the murals in the Archway takes from five to eight days
to complete.
