PROVO, UTAH -- Religious historian Jan Shipps is in Utah this week to promote her newest book, "Sojourner in the Promised Land: Forty Years Among the
Mormons".
For more than 40 years, Shipps has been a religious scholar, focusing on the
LDS Church. As a non-member, her writings have helped explain the LDS
beliefs to both members and non-members.
In her book she looks at the last 40 years of the LDS Church and finds that
it "has moved from being embedded in a particular culture to one that
can make itself at home in any culture."
