NEW ORLEANS -- "Joe" makes his debut on the silver screen in Utah and
Idaho!
A new movie starring Donny Osmond, Joan Collins and Richard
Attenborough is a film version of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". It has the look of a
non-stop kaleidoscope with dazzling colors and music.
Osmond, as Joseph, wears a designer "diaper and Cleopatra style
eyeliner" while Joan Collins as Mrs. Potiphar wears a Marilyn Monroe
look of skin-and-beads dress. Richard Attenborough plays the part of
Jacob, the father of Joseph.
There is a trick used where all the characters take bows and the
audience storms the stage in colorful costumes, joining the show in
progress.
The narrator, Maria Friedman works hard to tie the whole package
together, but what puts this performance over is the frisky staging and
eclectic design.
