BOUNTIFUL, UTAH -- Former Hawaii mission 'mother' and Hawaii Temple
matron Maurine McClellan"Nana" Haycock died Saturday, April 1st.
Haycock was the widow of the long-time secretary to the LDS Church's
First Presidency D. Arthur Haycock. The couple presided over the
Hawaii mission from 1954 to 1958 and served as Temple President and
Matron for the Laie, Hawaii Temple from 1986 to 1989. Sister Haycock
was 83.
Born June 7, 1917, sister Haycock was a native of Kaysville, Utah,
youngest of 11 children. She married her high school sweetheart, D.
Arthur Haycock on May 6, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. Sister Haycock
also served on the Relief Society General Board. Brother Haycock died
in 1994.
