OGDEN, UTAH -- Utah sixth-grade students in a class for the gifted
and talented hosted a fund-raiser Friday evening, April 7, at
Cottonwood Elementary School.
The event will benefit Weber State University mascot and power
tumbler Matt Maw, 22, who was severely injured in a fall Feb. 23.
Maw who was hoping to participate in the 2004 Summer Olympics in
Athens, Greece was paralyzed from the neck down.
Students planned the fundraiser, patterned after the "Who Wants to be
a Millionaire?" television program. All proceeds from the evening
will go to help with the equipment Maw requires and to help defray
his medical costs.
