Methodist Complains About New Anti-Mormon Policy
Biloxi MS Sun Herald 21Jun00 O1
By John E. Wallace: Biloxi
BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI -- A Mississippi man disagrees with a decision
made recently at the Quadrennial Conference of the United Methodist
Church to consider the Mormon Church a cult.
In a recent letter to the editor of the Biloxi Sun Herald, John E.
Wallace wrote he was disappointed and discouraged with his church's
policy regarding Mormons.
"As a practicing Methodist now for over 60 years, I deplore any type
exclusivity by the church. I have found my Mormon friends to practice
most sincerely and truly the principles of Christianity and to be
true followers of Christ," Wallace said.
He also stated he finds this action against the Mormons to be against
the principles he has always found his church to support. "Jesus is
universal and we all need to practice love, tolerance, acceptance and
non-exclusivity in Christian fellowship," the Mississippi man wrote.
