Will Mormons Give Dangerfield's New Movie Respect?
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- Rodney Dangerfield has a new movie that
will be released September 8th. Entitled, "My Five Wives," the movie
is set in a fictional Utah town where Dangerfield plays a polygamist.
Dangerfield says he got the idea from his wife. "I was inspired to
write the story because my wife is a Mormon and I became fascinated
with the whole polygamy thing. I thought, what a great idea for a
film," Dangerfield told reporters Monday. "Polygamy's still practiced
in over 50 countries!''
But Dangerfield says that the film isn't about Mormonism, instead it
concentrates on polygamy. And Dangerfield, who recently underwent
double bypass surgery, thinks that is a great topic for humor. "One
of the advantages of having five wives is they can't all have a
headache at the same time," Dangerfield cracks. But his relationship
with his wife is something that he wants to celebrate, as much as
joke about. At the premiere of the film August 28th at the AMC Santa
Monica Theater, Dangerfield and his wife will renew their wedding
vows.
