Mormon Battalion Subject of Sunday Lecture
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Historian Will Bagley will lecture on the
Mormon Battalion at the University of Utah's J. Willard Marriott
Library at 3 pm on Sunday, September 10th as part of the library's
"Sunday Afternoon at the Marriott" series. The series is held in the
Gould Auditorium of the Library on the University of Utah campus.
Bagley, who studies Mormon history, will discuss his new book, "Army
of Israel: Mormon Battalion Narratives," which he co-edited with
fellow historian Dave Bigler. The book is based on the diaries,
journals and letters of both the soldiers in the battalion and the
wives that followed their march. The trek took the soldiers in the
battalion more than 2,000 miles from Council Bluffs, in what is now
Iowa to San Diego in 1846.
Bagley will sign copies of the book following the lecture.
