Dantzscher's Competition Ends with US Team 4th, Other US Teams Lose

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- The Mormon athletes competing yesterday were all on
losing teams, as the four US teams involved all either lost games or ended
out of the medal competition. In softball, the US team lost in the 11th
inning (4 innings after regulation) when Japan scored two runs and the US
was only able to answer with a single run.
Meanwhile, the US water polo team lost to Australia 7-6, but LDS team member
Charlene Johnson did not play. And the US men's indoor volleyball team lost
to Russia, 3-1. Team member Ryan Miller scored 3 points.
LDS Church member Jamie Dantzscher ended her Olympic competition yesterday
when the US team ended in 4th place. Dantzscher performed poorly in earlier
qualifiers, leaving her out of individual competition, which continue. For
the US team, she performed best on the Uneven Bars and in the Floor
Exercises, doing much better than she did in the qualifiers. However, The
performance wasn't enough to boost the US team to a medal.
