Two LDS Named to National Wakeboard Team
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA -- Sheena and Lockey Price were named to the
Canadian National Wakeboard team at the conclusion of this year's
Pontiac Extreme Nationals held in Montreal, PQ, 30 August - 03
September, 2000.
Sheena Price, three times Provincial Champion was attending her third
national tournament when invited to join the national team. She was invited
along with first place finisher and returning team member Tiffany Finley
from Ontario.
Sheena placed second to Jennifer Barker in the under 18 Category and second
in the Open Women's Category. The top 10 women were invited to ride in the
open finals. Sheena's run included spins, flips and rolls as she rode her
Iconn wakeboard to the dock and then on to the podium. She was thrilled to
be named to the national team and to have the chance to represent Canada at
the world championships.
Sheena is 15 years old and attends Grade 10 at Lord Beaverbrook High
School. She is a member of the McKenzie Ward, Calgary Alberta South Stake.
Lockey Price is the only returning male member of the Canadian National
Wakeboard Team. The now two-time Junior National Champion clinched his
second national Junior Championship and went on to place second in the open
men category competing against the top 20 Canadian riders. When the finals
were done he came in second to Quebec rider J.F. Gosselin. The top four
male riders were invited to join the national team. Lockey was attending
his fourth national championship. His past achievements include 1999 Junior
Men's National Champion, third National Open finisher as well as sixth place
at the World Championships that took place in Orlando, FL, last year.
Lockey is 18 years old and a Young Single Adult in the Fish Creek Park Ward,
Calgary Alberta South Stake.
As members of the National Team they will attend the Wakeboard Worlds to be
held at Lake Elsinore, CA, held 05-08 October, 2000.
Their younger brothers Bradey, 12, and Jeff, 13, also participated in the
nationals. They ended in second and fourth places respectively in the boys
category.
