Lex De Azevedo's Gloria Makes West Coast Debut In A Benefit Performance
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Ettie Lee Youth &Family Services will
receive some welcomed support when GLORIA, an original oratorio about
the birth of Christ by composer Lex de Azevedo, makes its west coast
debut at the Los Angeles Music Center at the Dorothy Chandler
Pavilion on Friday, Dec.1st, at 8 PM.
The first volume in a musical series by Azevedo about the life of
Christ, GLORIA recounts musically the events surrounding Jesus'
birth, as chronicled in the King James Version of the Bible.
The performance will feature the California Philharmonic Orchestra,
The Southern California Mormon Choir and Azevedo's own Millennium
Choir.
GLORIA made history last year in its world debut performance at The
Citadel, Tower of David Museum, within the old city of Jerusalem; the
event was later televised on Utah's NBC affiliate, KSL-TV, and
Hallmark's Odyssey Channel. The Jerusalem performance will make its
public television debut on November 28th on Detroit Public
Television, considered an opinion leader among PBS stations.
Ettie Lee Youth &Family Services was founded 50 years ago when Miss
Ettie Lee, a Los Angeles High School teacher, opened the first group
home in America. Today, they help over 1,200 young people and
families each year through nine residential care centers, a foster
family agency, an adolescent substance abuse treatment program, and a
broad range of community based programs.
