Book About 'Real World' Hits Bestseller Lists
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- A new book about the recent season of MTV's
"The Real World," which featured a Mormon, former BYU student Julie
Stoffer, has jumped on to a couple bestseller lists in its first week
in print, reflecting the show's popularity. Stoffer was later
suspended from BYU for her role in the show, and will reportedly
attend college elsewhere when her commitment to MTV is complete.
Meanwhile, four other books about Mormons and Mormonism and written
by Mormon authors have stayed on the list. Stephen Ambrose's "Nothing
Like it in the World," a history of the building of the
transcontinental railroad, and the new paperback of Martha Beck's
"Expecting Adam," an account of her experiences with a baby suffering
from Downs Syndrome both rose in the bestseller lists.
The current titles on bestseller lists are:
Nothing Like it in the World, by Stephen Ambrose
A history of the building of the transcontinental railroad in the US.
Ambrose, a highly regarded historian, details the involvement of
Mormons in building crucial portions of the road, including the
driving of the "golden spike" in the heart of Mormon territory.
