Lamb Of God Soundtrack Available For First Time

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- "Lamb of God" is one of the most widely seen religious motion pictures of all time. Now, for the first time, the soundtrack by Emmy Award-winning composer Kurt Bestor is available (Shadow Mountain, $15.98 CD, $13.98 cassette).

A magnificent pairing of orchestral film score and contemporary sacred choral music, "Lamb of God" is an inspirational treasure for Bestor fans and sacred music enthusiasts alike.

Bestor notes, "The musical palette chosen for the "Lamb of God" score is a traditional orchestra with choir. The style would best be characterized as Twentieth Century tonal in the tradition of Barber, Stravinsky, Vaughn-Williams, Elgar, and Britten. The choir, singing in Hebrew and Latin, is used as a subconscious voice, enhancing in a subtle way many of the deeper, more sacred messages of the Passion of Christ."

Included on the album is "Passion of the Lamb," a Bestor-composed cantata, which features an orchestra and choir under the direction of Barlow Bradford, associate conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Of this piece, the composer says, "The idea to write a piece of music based on the Passion of Christ germinated many years ago when I passed through Oberammergau, Germany, where every ten years they present a dramatic presentation of the last seven days of the life of Christ. Although it was not the magical tenth year when I was there, the importance of the Passion remained with me."

Together, both "Lamb of God" and "Passion of the Lamb" present an uplifting message of hope and inspiration, and make a powerful addition to any music collection.
