Guess Who DVD Will Be More Than Just Concert
TORONTO, CANADA -- During an hour-long Internet chat held by band
members Burton Cumming and Randy Bachman, fans throughout the world
of Canadian rock legends The Guess Who learned Wednesday night that
the recently-reunited band will be releasing a DVD in early 2001.
It didn't come as a surprise that last weekend's two-hour live concert
broadcast by CBC would be included on the DVD, but the slough of extras is
what caught people off guard. Because a good portion of the CBC show
contained commercials, some of the performance had to be cut off the
playlist. These songs are sure to be included on the special album.
In addition, Paul Cantin, a reporter for JAM! Showbiz, wrote that according
to the band members, the DVD could also contain interviews and home videos
of the band members backstage and during rehearsals.
Cummings was quoted as saying that RCA, the group's original label in the
States was even going to dig some archived videos from 30 years ago of the
band performing in Winnipeg.
The DVD is only one of a number of albums the band plans to release in the
near future. There's the live album which covers this summer's "Running Back
Thru Canada" tour, Buddha Records (USA) reissuing some albums from the
1970s, and a package Bachman, an LDS Church member from the Vancouver, BC,
area, is working on regarding pre-RCA material the groups had recorded.
Cummings also surprised fans with the announcement of a four-disc, 100-cut
box set covering the whole career of The Guess Who, expected also for a 2001
release.
Cummings also verified the truth behind a rumour that the band would play a
small Toronto venue in the very near future. The time and exact location
were not revealed.
