Former Bishop Passed Away
CARDSTON, AB, CANADA -- Duane Remington, a member of the Cardston
Alberta West Stake, passed away this past Thursday at the age of 79
years, the second-to-last child still living of Rodney and Catherine
Remington.
Remington, who married Elaine Harris in the Cardston Alberta Temple
nearly 70 years ago while serving as a WWII pilot in the Royal
Canadian Air Force, was father to nine children, grandfather to 34
grandchildren and great grandfather to four great grandchildren.
Four years after the war, the Glenwood, AB, native started a
construction business with his brothers, one whom helped found the
world-famous Remington-Alberta Carriage Centre. Their business helped
build many of the bridges in Southern Alberta.
Remington, who also had a love for canoeing and enjoyed building
homemade cedar bark canoes, served as bishop of the Cardston Third
Ward in the late 50s and early 60s.
Thos wishing to send support have been encouraged to donate to the
Cardston Third Ward missionary fund.
