Protestants, Catholics, and Latter-day Saints Declared 'Totalitarian Sects' in Novosibirsk
NOVOSIBIRSK, RUSSIA -- All Russian Orthodox parishes and groups have
cancelled applications to participate in the annual Siberian
religious fair, stating "The decision not to participate in any way
in the events along with members of totalitarian sects was evoked by
the fact that this undoubtedly would be viewed as our recognition of
these sects and approval of them."
Catholics, Latter-day Saints, Evangelical Christians, Baptists, the
Russian Bible Society, and other groups were named as "totalitarian
sects" by Orthodox Officials of the Alexander Nevsky Brotherhood.
