Bachman Donates Memorabilia
OTTAWA, ON, CANADA -- Ten years ago, Randy Bachman, a guitarist for
the recently-reunited Guess Who donated memorabilia of his band to
the National Library Archives in Ottawa.
Bachman has since gone through his Salt Spring Island, BC, home with
the help of two college students to sort through two bedrooms and a
garage worth of mementos and keepsakes. Everything from record
pressings to T-shirts to posters and programmes filled the rooms from
the floor to the ceiling. literally.
His pack-rat tendencies helped Bachman, a member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to organize the band's upcoming
"The Guess Who? This Time Long Ago" It's a collection of audio
records from the garage band days, tours and times they played on
such CBC shows as "Let's Go/Music Hop" and "Where It's At."
All the work to produce the release has kept Bachman busy in his
home/studio. There hasn't been much time for performances. Which
works out fine because there weren't any scheduled. This summer will
change all that. The band is due at the University of Brandon in two
weeks to get doctorate degrees. Then they're getting inducted into
the Canadian Walk of fame. And they'll close off the summer with a
U.S. tour with Joe Cocker that will hit 41 U.S. cities.
