BYU Student is National Figure Skating Champion
PROVO, UTAH -- BYU student Daniel Manor, 27, is a national figure skating
champion, in spite of the fact that he doesn't fit the stereotypes for
figure skating. Manor, a native of Syracuse, New York, only started skating
after completing an LDS mission to Russia at age 22, and didn't start
training until 24. "People think if they didn't start as a kid, they can't
skate and can't compete," Manor said. "But that isn't true." Manor won a
national championship at the Adult Nationals in Boston April 25-29,
competing against 600 other skaters. However, in spite of his success, he
isn't looking to representing the U.S. at the Olympic Games.
At 27, Manor wins gold at figure skating competition
