Mormons get an education in religion
Chicago IL Daily Southtown 30Dec98
By Julie Zasadny: Religion Writer
This article in the Chicago Daily Southtown talks about LDS
high-school students attending early morning seminary classes.
It reports that there are 30 early morning seminary classes
held throughout the south and southwest Chicago suburbs, each
meeting for 45 minutes before school begins. About 420 students
attend, 60 percent of the Mormon students in the area.
"Most of them come on their own free will," says Bill Goodman,
director of the Mormon Church education system in the Chicago
Heights area. "Some come with parental encouragement."
Classes meet in four LDS Chapels in the area and in homes
throughout the area.
