EDMONDS, WASHINGTON -- Police in Edmonds Washington arrested a 55-year-
old appliance repairman Thursday for allegedly molesting an LDS boy he
met through the Church. The crime, which occurred during a three year
period, came to light when the boy disclosed the abuse to a counselor.
Police are worried that the man may have, through the Church, met and
abused other children also .
Unfortunately, Police are not sure of the identities the man may have
used, "He's a very mysterious person," said Edmonds detective Don
Kinney. "He's got numerous aliases, numerous dates of birth, Social
Security numbers. He's kind of a tough one to nail down." But police
believe he used the Church to establish relationships with his victims.
In the case oi the LDS boy, the man met the then 13-year-old at Church.
He later offered the youth a part-time job in his appliance repair
business. The abuse began two months later.
Now 16, the boy disclosed the abuse after it had continued for three
years.
