PROVO, UTAH -- Former BYU basketball star Robbie Reid headed for London,
England October 20th, after finally earning a professional spot. Reid
was offered a position on the London Towers, who are already four games
into their season.
Reid caught the Towers' attention because their new coach, Ron Abegglen,
was Weber State University's coach last year and is an ex-BYU star
(1958-60).
Reid is pleased with the opportunity, "I've been to Greece and Italy and
that area of Europe," he said, "but I've never been to England, Scotland
and Wales. I'm pretty excited." Reid served an LDS Church mission to
Greece.
After playing for BYU in 1994 and 1995, Reid went on an LDS mission. He
returned and started for Michigan last year, where he was noted as a
3-point shooter. While he earned a tryout with the Phoenix Suns, Reid
has not been able to land a position in the NBA.
