Mormon Artists lead in 'Sound of Music in Virginia
By Amy Fisher
Two Young Mormon Artists are playing the lead roles in The Sound of
Music at the Riverside Theater and Conference Center in Fredericksburg,
VA.
Maija-Liisa Nielsen an outstanding performer since childhood who also
operates her own dance studio in Spotsylvania County is playing the role
of Marie. Maija-Liisa has many theater credits to her name and is a
talented choreographer.
Russell Rowland who just finished performing the role of LaHab in the
production of Noah at the Sight and Sound Millennium Theater in
Lancaster, Pa is playing the part of Capt. von Trapp. Russell recently
performed at SVC for Sheri Dew, Ardeth Kapp and Pres. Bateman and at the
VA. Conference on the Family held in Williamsburg.
My husband and I attended the production last week and were very
impressed with the outstanding vocal abilities of the cast as well as
the overall quality of the show as compared to what we see in Richmond.
It is an excellent production and these two young people and children of
bishops did not know each others religion right away. It is a lovely,
clean and well managed facility and is certainly an uplifting
performance to support during the holidays.
I do not have a program but I did see the show and was very impressed.
