Ruling against Tanners could have effect on Internet (Copyright Ruling Targets Web Links)
U.S. District Court Judge Tena Campbell's injunction against LDS Church
critics Jerald and Sandra Tanner could have wide-ranging implications
for the Internet, according to observers. They say that the decision
could limit the ability of websites to link to other sites, shutting
down linking when it is not known if the site is violating someone's
copyright.

Minnesota's first Mormon temple comes to the people
The open house for the Minneapolis Temple
starts Saturday and continue through year-end, giving thousands in
the Minneapolis - St Paul metropolitan area and in the region the
opportunity to see it prior to dedication. Currently the only Temple
between Chicago and Denver, the Temple will serve Church members in
Wisconsin, Iowa, and North and South Dakota, as well as the 22,000
Church members in Minnesota. Dedication is scheduled for January 9th.

Ainge's reasons resonate with some
LDS sports star and NBA coach Danny Ainge's
resignation this week sent shock waves through the sports world, not
just because it happened, but because of why it happened. While some
sports writers and fans looked for a hidden reason for Ainge's
resignation, several columnists have discovered what is obvious to
most members of the LDS Church, that Ainge resigned for exactly the
reasons he gave - to spend more time with his family.

Two LDS survivors of Bataan sue Japanese (Two Men, Still Haunted by War, Seek Justice)
Harold Poole and V.O. "Johnny" Johnson, two LDS survivors of the Bataan
Death March are taking advantage of a change in California Law and suing
the Japanese for their mistreatment during the war. California recently
extended the statute of limitations on claims by Holocaust victims, POWs
and other victims of World War II to 2010.

Salt Lake Courthouse Gets Bust by Mormon Artist (S.L. courthouse looking very patriotic, by George)
Elder David B. Haight of the Quorum of the Twelve has taken part
in a ceremony honoring a new addition to the Salt Lake City
courthouse. A bust of George Washington has been placed at
the Matheson Court House. Elder Haight prayed that seeing the
statue of the first U.S. President would inspire people to be good.

LDS Church Held Up Sale of Struggling ZCMI
Documents filed with the U. S. Securities and
Exchange Commission reveal that the LDS Church prevented the sale of
ZCMI department stores, of which it owne more than half, until this
past summer. Several chains had approached ZCMI multiple times at
least since 1995. The documents were filed with the SEC because ZCMI
was a publically-traded company, of which a trust owned by the LDS
Church was the majority shareholder.
