Elder David B. Haight of the Quorum of the Twelve has taken part
in a ceremony honoring a new addition to the Salt Lake City
courthouse. A bust of George Washington has been placed at
the Matheson Court House. Elder Haight prayed that seeing the
statue of the first U.S. President would inspire people to be good.
The bronze bust is a replica of a 1975 sculpture by George Fairbanks
of Utah. The original is on display at George Washington University
in Washington, D.C. Other statues by Brother Fairbanks are at the
Hawaii LDS Temple. Copies of his statue of the Angel Moroni are
on the Washington, D.C. LDS temple, as well as several other temples.
