LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- LDS Church member Chris Mendenhall was
featured in the Los Angeles Times' regular 'Up Close' column for his
work as a volunteer for the American Youth Soccer Organization, Region
678, which includes 2,150 youth playing soccer on 211 teams, involving
some 4,000 parents, who volunteer to help run the organization.
Mendenhall is the Regional commissioner for Region 678.
Mendenhall is a Loan Officer for LA Mortgage, Inc. But to judge from his
experience, he spends a lot of time on soccer and other sports. He has
served in the AYSO's management since 1992, and has also been a coach in
several different sports, and had 7 different volunteer positions with
the AYSO besides management positions.
His LDS Church service has also been extensive. An RM, Mendenhall is
currently a seminary teacher, but has also served as physical facilities
representative, young men's committee member, ward executive secretary
and as a member of his stake high council.
If you had any doubt about his membership in the Church, just look at
the personal motto that he gave to the Times, "When you are in the
service of your fellow beings, you are in the service of your God."
