Mark Madsen, an LDS basketball star at Stanford University, has had to
cope with some pretty wild crowds on the Cardinal's away trips. Oregon
U's students spit on him with beaming smiles, and Oregon State
University's Beavers (whose student cheering section contributed to
big home wins against Stanford, Arizona and UCLA) screamed "we hate
Joseph Smith and the Mormon Church. We're gonna attack Salt Lake
City." One can only imagine what they yelled at other, less religious
visiting players.
