Peterson speaks at BYUH devotional
(BYUH) Ke Alaka'i 26Jan00 D3
By Pamela Hall: Staff writer
Erlend Peterson, Dean of Admissions and Records at BYU's Provo campus,
spoke to a devotional assembly at BYU-Hawaii January 20th, and urged
students there to "be a standard unto the nations." Peterson said that
living the gospel sets LDS Church members up as an example for the
world.
The devotional also included a musical number by violinist Monique Mead.
Peterson then told the assembly that BYU has become a wonderful place.
He reminded the assembly of LDS Prophet David O. McKay's words, "You
mark my word, ... From this school, I'll tell you, will go men and women
whose influence will be felt for good towards the establishment of peace
internationally."
He also said that students at BYU are expected to go into the world,
serve the Church and influence their communities for good. He challenged
the students to "become a standard unto the nations."
