At the Hawkeye Fields adjacent to the University of Iowa's Mormon Handcart
Park (call or e-mail for directions)
The Mormon Handcart Park is the site where, in 1856, thousands of Mormon
Pioneers from all over the Eastern U.S. and Europe built wooden handcarts
which they pulled more than 1200 miles to the Rocky Mountains to be with
others of their faith. The Mormon Trek Heritage Festival will commemorate
this remarkable journey that began right here in Iowa.

Join us for live entertainment, pioneer games, crafts, displays and tours of
the Handcart Park.
Pioneer Barbecue and homemade Root Beer!!
Come enjoy a tasty pioneer BBQ for a minimal cost ($2.00-3.00)! Food and
beverages will be sold to benefit efforts to improve and maintain the
Handcart Park.
