Perth Australia Temple To Get Angel
YOKINE, WESTERN AUSTRALIA -- The LDS Church's Perth Australia Temple
will have an Angel atop its spire soon, says the Perth West
Australian. The traditional statue of the Angel Moroni will top the
$9 million building in Yokine, Australia, outside of Perth.
According to the West Australian article, the LDS Church is the
fastest growing Christian denomination in Australia, and now has
about 100,000 members in the country. But the new Temple is meant to
serve only the 10,000 members in Western Australia.
And the article says the town of Yokine is happy to have the
building. "It will be a landmark in our area," said Yokine Mayor Tony
Vallelonga. Approval to build the Temple came from the Stirling City
Council and construction began last March.
The building facade will be made of Italian Olympia white granite. It
will also feature art glass windows from California and gold leaf and
chandeliers throughout the interior.
