RM at UWisconsin to Sit Out Sunday Basketball Games
MADISON, WISCONSIN -- Ricky Bower, a freshman recruit on the
University of Wisconsin's basketball team, will not play in the team's Sunday
games, according to a report in yesterday's Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Bower, who missed two seasons while on an LDS mission in Poland, committed to
the Badgers this past month, after making it clear to Badger coach Dick
Bennett that he wouldn't play or practice on Sundays.
Bower joined the team after guard Julian Swartz took a leave of
absence. He is expected to compete for playing time at the shooting guard
position this year. While the team's practice schedule varies from week to week,
currently only two conference games may be played on Sunday, a February 18th
game against Northwestern, and a game to be played either March 3rd or 4th
against Iowa. The non-conference schedule has not yet been
completed.
