Maren Ord A Hit on the Airwaves with Debut Album; 'Waiting' in Stores November 7
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- She's played Lilith Fair, she's managed by
Nettwerk management (home of Sarah McLachlan and Barenaked Ladies),
and she has a record deal with Highway Records and Capitol Records.
One of her songs was recently featured in the television show
"Felicity," and her first single is already getting spins on Salt
Lake radio.
And she's only 19 years old.
Meet Maren Ord, the young songstress who is making big waves in the
music industry with her upbeat lyrics, catchy tunes and guitar driven
songs. The singer-songwriter from Edmonton, Alberta has roots in Salt
Lake City, and has come to the intermountain west to release her
album before the rest of the world gets to hear it.
Waiting, Maren's debut album, is being released by Highway Records on
November 7. The album will be available in major music stores along
the Wasatch Front, and in LDS bookstores nationwide.
To celebrate the release of her album, Maren will share the stage
with popular performer Peter Breinholt on Tuesday, November 7 at
Johnny B's in Provo. Tickets are $5 and available at Johnny B's (177
West, 300 South, Provo). The show starts at 8 p.m.
Maren will be in Salt Lake to promote her album for just over two
weeks, making ten concert appearances in about fourteen days, and
doing press and radio tours. Another of her stops is an assembly at
a junior high school in Bountiful, where she will play some of her
songs on acoustic guitar and talk to the students about setting goals
and working hard.
An active member of the LDS Church, Maren is being touted as the next
Sarah McLachlan. Her edgier style and guitar-driven songs have
already found some success on Salt Lake radio. The first single of
off Waiting, called "Sarah," became the first ever 5-time champion of
"Mike Lindsay's Death Match" on Salt Lake's KENZ 107.5 the End. The
popular program relies on listeners to call in and vote for their
favorite between two new songs. "Sarah" beat new singles by such
popular national artists as Radiohead and Lenny Kravitz. (Contrary to
popular belief, the catchy song is not about fellow Canadian Sarah
McLachlan.)
Another of Maren's songs was featured on the television show
"Felicity." "Just Like You" was played during the November 1
episode. Watch for more about Maren coming soon on MarenOrd.com.
