JENNY OAKS BAKER
Jenny Oaks Baker is a member of the National Symphony Orchestra. She
received her master's degree from The Juilliard School and holds a
bachelor's degree in violin performance from the Curtis Institute of
Music. She has given recitals in Israel and Europe and has soloed with
orchestras throughout the United States, including the Utah Symphony, the
Concerto Soloists s Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. She has also
appeared as guest soloist with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in their
national television and radio broadcast. This fall she soloed with the
Jerusalem Symphony in their production of Lex de Azevedo's "Hosanna - The
Life of Christ."
Jenny has been a prize winner in several national and international
competitions. Addionally, she is the recipient of five Pearl Awards from
the Faith Centered Music Association for her solo albums On Wings of Song
and Songs My Mother Taught Me. Her most recent album, Where Love Is, also
features hymns and sacred classical works.
Ms. Baker, who is the daughter of Elder Dallin H. and the late June Oaks
of Salt Lake City, resides in Northern Virginia with husband Matthew.
JENNY NAYLOR RICHARDS
Jenny Naylor Richards, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, recently
received her bachelor's degree from The Juilliard School as a
scholarship student of Seymour Lipkin. This fall, she returned to Juilliard to complete her master's degree in piano performance.
Ms Richards has appeared as a soloist with the Utah Symphony on several
occasions, as well as with orchestras throughout the Western
States. She has also received first-place honors and awards at
many competitions, including the Junior Gina Bachaeur International Piano Competition,and the Kingsville International Piano Competition.
The 22-year old pianist has received national awards for her original
compositions. She recently married Nathan Richards and they reside in New
York City.
"THE JENNYS"
As a duo, the "Jennys" perform together frequently. They have concertized
throughout New York City, Sal Lake City, and in Washington D.C.. They
were featured performers in the 1999 Park City International Music
Festival, and have represented The Juilliard School in various concerts
abroad. A favorite with audiences, the "Jennys" have appeared at Lincoln
Center's Alice Tully Hall as well as Carnegie Hall.
