LDS Cheerleader Joins Eagles' Lewis at NFL's Pro Bowl
HONOLULU, HAWAII -- The Philadelphia Eagles' Chad Lewis wasn't the only
Philadelphia Mormon to go to the NFL's Pro Bowl this year. Melanie White,
who briefly was a BYU student, and is now a student and part-time teacher in
Somers Point, New Jersey in addition to working as a cheerleader for the
Eagles.
Each year, one cheerleader from each team goes to the Pro Bowl. In the
Eagles' case, the other cheerleaders vote for who they think should go, and
this year they selected White, 22.
But in spite of Hawaii's reputation as a vacation spot, a place to relax,
White says she will have to return to take advantage of that. She's had to
be at cheerleaders practice at 8 am each day, as well as making many
appearances at the events held during Pro Bowl week. It may not be heavy
labor, but it is certainly time-consuming.
Not surprisingly, White says that her favorite Eagle is fellow LDS Church
member Chad Lewis.
