LDS High School Senior Excels in Three Sports
PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- Kim Eastin, a senior at Sunnyslope, plays incredible
defense in three sports. During the final soccer game of the season, she
stopped 21 shots in the second round 4A playoff game. She was voted the
Skyline's Defensive Player of the Year in volleyball. And now she's gearing
up for the softball season.
Even though Eastin is considered one of the state's top soccer goalkeepers,
volleyball is her favorite. She is active in the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and would like to play at a Mormon school. Upper Iowa,
Phoenix College, and Utah Valley State have expressed interest in having her
play.
"She can play any position," Sunnyslope volleyball coach Angela Gross said.
"She's very versatile, and she's very consistent with her play. We knew
exactly what to expect when she stepped on the court. She's not afraid to
hit the floor, so if anyone's going to get it, she will. And the whole time
she plays, she talks. She has lots of self-sacrifice, doesn't have to be
the star. Sometimes that's hard to find."
