MoTab Houston Performance Will Happen Tonight
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- After days of scrambling for a new place for the
Mormon Tabernacle Choir to perform, Houston's Society for the
Performing Arts managed to find a place for the choir to sing. The
previous venue, Jones Hall, was flooded this past weekend in heavy
storms that also flooded other major theaters in downtown Houston,
making it difficult to find alternative venues. Tonight's concert
will now be held in the Reliant Arena (called the Astroarena in the
Deseret News) at 8pm.
The SPA had cancelled the concert on Wednesday because it couldn't
find an alternate site, but the choir's technical staff looked at the
Reliant Arena Thursday morning and decided the concert could be
produced there, according to SPA executive director Toby Mattox.
Following the concert, the choir will move on to Fort Worth, Texas,
where it will perform in Bass Hall. Those that have made other plans
because of the cancellation can get a refund from the SPA for tickets
purchased to hear the choir.
