Young LDS Women Compete for Miss American Achievement Award

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- The Miss American Achievement &Miss Utah Achievement Scholarship &Recognition Program has been honoring and awarding women of all ages for their lifetime of achievements. Contestants are evaluated in areas of academics, leadership, community service, talents/skills/abilities, career achievements, & personal obstacles overcome. The women that enter this program are extraordinary in their own right and Utah's representatives are no exception.

Kasie Jeffery is Miss Teen Utah Achievement 2001-02. Close your eyes...Make a wish... count to three..then. Go out and "make" your Dreams come true! Kasie Jeffery is a 16 year old from the booming city of Tooele. She believes in not waiting around for her wishes to come true. She believes in getting in there and making sure that they do! She is a member of the National Honor Society, Tooele Youth City Council- Assistant for Human Resources, High School Drill Team- Head Drill Mistress, High School Dance Company-President, and a USA All-Star. She had the chance to follow her passion (dance)to such places as Paris for the Millenium and she was the only young lady to represent Utah this year in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with the Mike Miller Dance Team. She was just named to the All State Team in 3A Drill for Utah High Schools. Kasie believes that all dreams can come true!!!!

Ms. Utah Achievement 2001-02, Linda Richardson, has received an Associate of Science degree in Office Education at Ricks College and is now pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management at Utah Valley State College. She is currently working full-time as a Financial/Human Resource Assistant. In the past three years she has been a member of Who's Who Business Professionals of America and is a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. Linda is receiving piano instruction at Crescent School of Music and volunteering 4 hours a week for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.She served a mission for the LDS Church for a year and a half in Macon, Georgia. Linda was involved in her High School Drill Team for two years and was honored in "High Academics and Attendance," "America's Most Wanted," "Best Attitude," "Most Improved," "Best Smile," "Shining the Brightest," and "The Early Bird."

Jennifer Weaver, Mrs. Utah Achievement 2001-02, resides in Clearfield and has been married for 5 years. She is the mother of 2 beautiful children. Jennifer is an AmeriCorp Promise Fellow serving as the Program Coordinator for the Clearfield Neighbor to Neighbor Program. She has committed to give 1700 hours of community service by December, 2001 to receive an education award to pursue her Master's degree. She volunteers as the Utah Promise Chair for Clearfield, as well as serves on various city, county and state councils and committees. Jennifer has been a member of the Lakeview Business & Professional Women's Club for 3 years and is the Young Careerist of the year. Jennifer achieved her B.S. in Child Development/Family Studies in '97 from the University of Utah from a leadership scholarship. Before transferring to the U of U, she attended S.L.C.C. on a leadership scholarship and was honored 2 years in a row in Who's Who Among Junior Colleges. Jennifer was a college cheerleader, member of the dance company and the College Activities Board Fine Arts & Lectures Chair in which she won the award of being the outstanding College Activity Board Member of the Year. Jennifer loves writing and is a correspondence writer for the Standard-Examiner. She also enjoys singing and is sought after to perform at special occasions in her community.

All of these ladies are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints and are absolutely amazing!!
