Lethbridge Stakes Clean Local Parks
LETHBRIDGE, ALBERTA, CANADA -- Over 600 members of the three
Lethbridge stakes banded together a week ago Saturday for their
annual day of service.
After meeting for a breakfast of bagels, pastries and fruit, most of
the members of the Lethbridge Alberta, Lethbridge Alberta East and
Lethbridge Alberta West Stakes performing service helped to spread
mulch in a number of the city's smaller public parks. Most of this
work was done within an hour, covering a workload which would take
city crews months to complete.
Members form the six young single adult wards helped to replace sand
in children's playgrounds with pea gravel.
Many of the sisters opted to help in a number of the meetinghouses
which had converted cultural halls for making quilts. Supplied with
material and bedsheets donated by local members over the last few
months, the completed quilts were donated to local shelters and
halfway houses.
