Mormon Battalion Special Presentation
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- You are cordially invited to attend a special
presentation at 16:00 [4:00 p.m.], Saturday, 11 August 2001 at the
Historic LDS 10th Ward, National Headquarters of the U.S. Mormon
Battalion, Inc. The building is located at the corner of 800 East
and 400 South in Salt Lake City.
Guest speaker for this combined gathering is Mr. Frank Tortorich,
Jr., noted author and historian from Pine Grove, California. Mr.
Tortorich is a Life member of the Oregon-California Trail Association
and also a well-known lecturer on the historic trails which led to
the settling of the west, specifically northern California.
Mr. Tortorich's presentation will feature the Mormon Battalion
presence in and contributions to Sutter's Mill, opening of the Carson
River Road, and Melissa Coray Peak. He will have copies of his book
on this subject available at the meeting.
This presentation and meeting are hosted by the undersigned and
Bishop Sam Parker [10th Ward] in conjunction with USMB Company E.
