Joseph Brickey is on a Mission to Paint
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Joseph Brickey has been called as a full-time
missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to
paint murals for temples and visitors' centers around the world.
Brickey, a native of Utah, complied many of his brilliant paintings
together into the best selling Christmas book, "When Jesus Was Born
in Bethlehem." These original paintings display in spectacular
fashion the emotions that are at the heart of Christmas.
There is no story to match the drama of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Two thousand years ago, the story was first told by humble shepherds.
In the year 2000 Joseph Brickey, drawing his inspiration from the
scriptures, told the story of the birth of Christ with those same
words along with his inspirational paintings depicting that same
blessed event. "When Jesus Was Born in Bethlehem" enables families to
read the Christmas story in a whole new way and transport them to the
time when Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
He paints in a style reminiscent of the old masters, using color,
light, and emphasizing form and composition to create paintings
filled with symbolism. Brickey brings a fresh perspective and dynamic
energy to the nativity of Christ and his art. His award winning
paintings have received high praise from the galleries in which they
have been displayed.
His next task is to paint for The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. These paintings will be seen by the world on
temple square as the Olympic Winter Games come to Salt Lake City.
Working with Mike Enfield, a director for the temple construction
department, Joseph Brickey will be making a profound impact on the
hearts of all those who view his art.
