LDS Missionary Killed in Montana Traffic Accident
GREAT FALLS, MONTANA -- An LDS missionary was killed and his
companion injured in an automobile accident Tuesday night. Elder
Spencer Goodwin Platt, 20, was killed when the car his companion,
Elder Douglas Clark, 20, was driving went off a gravel road and
rolled, according to Teton County sheriff's officers.
Clark, of Lonetree, Colorado, was driving on a gravel road near
Power, Montana, about 15 miles from Great Falls. He was taken to a
hospital in Great Falls, and is expected to make a full recovery.
Both Clark and Platt were serving in the Montana Billings Mission,
and had been in the field for about 11 months.
In an obituary in the Salt Lake Tribune, Platt was remembered for
enjoying every minute of life. He loved to sing and had a great
smile. He was a graduate of Murray High School, where he participated
in A Capella and Madrigals. He was also a Hockey fan, and helped his
team win the Utah State Championship during his senior year.
Platt was an Eagle Scout and had earned the Duty to God Award. He
loved carpentry and construction and had been awarded a scholarship
in construction. A funeral is scheduled for Saturday.
