Missionaries Help with Birdhouse Kits |
Four LDS missionaries were noticed in the Oak
Ridge, Tennessee Oakridger for their assistance to the American
Museum of Science and Energy. The Elders helped prepare bluebird
house kits recently for the museum's annual Bluebird and Wildlife
Habitat Box Building event that was to be held January 26th. The
newspaper featured a picture of the four missionaries, Elder Hadlock,
Elder Saunders, Elder Crowe and Elder Davis. |
Money Exhibit Includes "Mormon Money" of 1800s |
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, just a
few blocks from the World Trade Center site, has opened a new
exhibit, "Drachmas, Doubloons and Dollars: The History of Money,"
which includes examples of Mormon currency. As early as the 1830s,
the Kirtland Safety Society set up by Joseph Smith had issued its own
bank notes. This exhibit has examples of currency issued in the 1850s
in Utah, as well as at Sutter's Mill, in Northern California, where
members of the Mormon Battalion were involved in the discovery of
gold in 1848. |
