Web Site Created to Help Olympic Media
PROVO, UTAH -- The Latter-day Saint Frequently Asked Questions
(http://ldsfaq.byu.edu ) Web
site, sponsored by BYU Studies, provides answers for some common
and not-so-common questions about The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints.
The site, launched in December 2001, is designed to help all
interested people, including Olympic media, learn more about the
Church of Jesus Christ and its doctrine, history, scriptures and
practices.
"This Web site serves as a gateway for media professionals and others
to get scholarly researched information regarding questions about the
Church," said John W. Welch, editor in chief of BYU Studies.
More than 400 questions and answers have been summarized from past
issues of BYU Studies (an academic journal contributed to and edited
by Brigham Young University faculty) and other sources such as the
Encyclopedia of Mormonism. The site also takes users to the exact
Encyclopedia of Mormonism article or an online version of the BYU
Studies article.
Opinions expressed in BYU Studies are the opinions of the
contributors and are helpful to readers, but do not necessarily
reflect the views of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
Brigham Young University, the editors or advisory board.
