Provo Man Building Haiti Orphanage
PROVO, UTAH -- A retired Provo, Utah man is trying to build an
orphanage in Haiti, and wants returned LDS missionaries who served
there to help. Weston Whatcott doesn't know anything about
construction, but is seeking funds to build a 50-bed, $225,000
facility to meet the needs of the Haitian people. He had planned to
poor the footings for the building on February 15th after raising
$57,000 of the needed funds. His Foyer de Sion (House of Zion) will
have its own generator and be hurricane-proof. And it will be
expandable to 300 beds. Whatcott has enlisted the help of neighbor
Paul Cook who is organizing the help of returned missionaries who
will go to Haiti to help with the construction.
