PROVO, UTAH -- KBYU Television will broadcast a recent concert by the
Mormon Tabernacle Choir featuring the popular English sextet, the
king'singers. The performance will air on KBYU-TV Sunday, Feb. 24, at
9 p.m.; Monday, Feb. 25, at 10:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 9
p.m. The concert will also appear on BYU Television Sunday, Feb. 24,
at 9 p.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m.; and Friday, March 1, at 5 p.m.
Since the king'singers' debut in May 1968, the ensemble has made more
than 60 recordings and appeared at numerous public and private
concerts. Their popularity stems from their repertoire, which
includes everything from 16th-century madrigal to commissioned works
to Japanese folk songs to arrangements of popular hits. Television
appearances include The Tonight Show, Today, Newton's Apple, and
Evening at Pops. They have also performed on radio programs like
Prairie Home Companion and St. Paul Sunday. The group was nominated
for a Grammy in 2001 and appeared in an Emmy award-winning Christmas
special with Julie Andrews, Placido Domingo, and John Denver.
