BYU Students Find Rewards, Drawbacks of Being Film Extras
PROVO, UTAH -- With a wide variety of film making going on in Utah
and near BYU, many students get the chance to work as 'extras' on
films made by the LDS Church, the nascent LDS film industry, films by
fellow students and even projects from Hollywood. The work is very
necessary, says Alisa Anglesey, a casting specialist for the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "A busy city street, no matter
how well it was dressed, wouldn't be believable if not for the
dozens, or hundreds, of extras filling it." But the work has its
drawbacks, because of extreme weather conditions, hard chairs, long
days or waiting.
