New Palmyra Chapel Progressing
PALMYRA, NEW YORK -- A new 24,000-square-foot LDS chapel in Palmyra,
New York is progressing well, says Rochester Stake President David
Cook. "I am thrilled . . . They are a few weeks ahead of schedule."
Construction started in September, just two months after
groundbreaking, and is expected to be completed by this summer for an
October dedication. The chapel replaces a 16,000-square-foot building
sold recently to the town of Palmyra for use as a town hall. The
Palmyra ward outgrew the previous building and now has between 500
and 600 members. The new building is designed to serve as a stake
center, as well as accomodate events associated with the annual Hill
Cumorah Pageant.
